Growing up in rural Missouri on a farm, I was always surrounded by the natural beauty of the planted fields of green, blue skies, shimmering spring waters, red tomatoes hanging in the garden, Grandpa's faded denim overalls, yellow fluffy baby chicks, pink peonies......all the yummy colors of the farm. And an old farmhouse full of painted furniture, painted fireplaces, flowered fabric chairs, cracked plaster walls, vases of cut flowers from the garden, patterned linoleum floors, iron beds and the smells of fried chicken for that big Sunday dinner.
Fast forward to 50 years later and a trip to Paris......the streets, the striped awnings, the patina on the statues, the Fleur De Lis everywhere, the old iron gates, the angel statues gilded in gold, Notre Dame and the beautiful stained glass windows, Sacre Couer, the stone bridges with artists selling their wares, the divine feminine energy everywhere, the music, the sidewalk cafes, the crepes.......surrounded by beauty again.
Those were two snapshots into what stirs my passion for creating....making things just a little more beautiful, pleasing to the eye, soothing to the soul......
Now today I am able to create in my studio the things that speak to my soul....whether it's an embellished bottle, an up cycled piece from a thrift store, a crown for topping a favorite piece, or a vintage Mother Mary Statue....
And creating with Iron Orchid Design products has enhanced the way I create to mimic those feelings of the farm; the floral anthology transfer, the farm animals mould, and the butterflies decor stamp...to name a few. And Paris....the feelings from the Brocante Transfer, the Fleur De lis mould, the Le Courrier Stamp......all warm my heart. Then add a little paint, findings, sealers, crackle.....all the other enhancements and these are the things that make my soul shimmer and glimmer here in the Delta.
